You, like many others, may think that you are addicted to nicotine. BUT what if I was to tell you that the nicotine is out of your blood stream within two hours and is out of your system in as little as three to four days. Makes you wonder about those stories you hear of “nicotine cravings" doesn't it?

With this in mind, you may ask why it is that people can stop smoking cigarettes for one, two or maybe three months only to once again to start smoking again, and sometimes even stronger. Habit!

Our lives are run by habits. Brushing your teeth is a habit, having a shower at a certain time of the day is a habit. Driving to work the same way, walking, writing, are all things we learnt to do at a conscious level but now don’t even have to think about doing them, we just find ourselves doing them as though we are on auto pilot….we would often not know what to do next if our lives were not run by habits.

Habits Have a Positive Purpose.............

All of our habits were set up at some time for a positive purpose. (cleaning our teeth hopefully prevents tooth decay, driving to work that way may have once been the quickest and most economical fuel wise). Often we do the same thing day in, and day out, and often never truly stop to think that it just does not serve us anymore, the way it use to.

I often get told that smoking helps you relax, gives you a well earned reward or break, some even tell me that smokes are their friend( a friend would not send you out into the cold and kill you slowly). Now you know and I know that there are many, many ways to relax, to take that well earned break or to reward ourselves for a job well done, but you either smoke of don’t smoke.

Hypnosis and NLP interrupt these patters and habits in such a way that you just find yourself doing things differently than before and you can be surprised and delighted at these new behaviors. This is one of the most exciting and exhilarating parts of my work, because when you become a non smoker you change every part of your life and how you think about yourself.
